Budzinski Takes Bipartisan Vote to Focus Federal Government on Reducing Inflation
WASHINGTON — Today, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski joined her Republican colleagues to pass the REIN IN Inflation Act – bipartisan legislation to push the White House and federal agencies to reduce the impact of inflation on consumers. The legislation requires the Administration to publish a report on the inflationary impact of executive actions before they are enacted.
“Families across Central and Southern Illinois continue to struggle with high prices at the gas pump and the grocery store. It’s important that we take inflation into account in every policy we consider,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “Today, I joined my Republican colleagues on a commonsense bill to require the White House and federal agencies to study the impact of administrative actions before they are enacted. I’m hopeful that this policy will keep our government focused on reducing costs for consumers.”
The REIN IN Inflation Act would require the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors (CEA) and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to prepare a report including the inflationary effects for executive actions. The White House would then have to report these findings to Congress each year to increase transparency and accountability over executive actions.
