WASHINGTON —Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski released the following statement after being sworn in as the U.S. Representative for Illinois’ 13th Congressional District in the 118th Congress.

“Fighting for working families is my life’s work. It’s why I joined the labor movement, and worked to make a difference for people like my grandpa, a union painter, and my grandma, a union teacher. And it’s why I just took an oath to support and defend the constitution and faithfully serve the constituents of Illinois’ 13th Congressional District.

“I’m humbled by this incredible responsibility and honored to bring the voices of Central and Southern Illinois with me to the People’s House as I continue my fight to rebuild the middle class. To everyone who placed their trust in me – thank you. I look forward to serving you and our communities each and every day.”
