Budzinski Appointed to House Agriculture, Veterans’ Affairs Committees
WASHINGTON — Today, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski announced her appointments to the House Agriculture Committee and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs for the 118th Congress.
“When voters in the 13th District selected me to bring their voices to Washington, I immediately got to work to secure committee assignments that will give our communities a valuable seat at the table,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “I couldn’t be prouder to join the House Agriculture Committee and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, and to work for the family farmers and the heroes who’ve served our country across Central and Southern Illinois. I look forward to reaching across the aisle on these committees to pass a Farm Bill, support rural communities and ensure that all of our nation’s veterans have access to the benefits they’ve earned.
The House Agriculture Committee is the authorizing committee for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The committee is responsible for agriculture policy and issues related to forestry, nutrition and water conservation. Every five years, including in 2023, the House Agriculture Committee is responsible for passing a package of legislation known as the Farm Bill that reauthorizes or creates important programs that impact our farming and food systems.
The House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs is the authorizing committee for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The committee is responsible for recommending legislation related to veterans’ benefits.
