WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) announced that the Madison County Mass Transit District will be receiving $1,080,000 in federal funding for a bus replacement. The funding was made available by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and allocated through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration.

“Bringing our public transit systems into the 21st century ensures that all of us can get where we need to go more safely and efficiently,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “I’m thrilled to announce that the Madison County Mass Transit District will be receiving more than $1 million to purchase a brand-new 40-foot bus, and I look forward to advocating for more investments in our critical transportation infrastructure.”

The funding for the Madison County Mass Transit District comes through FTA’s Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities program, which provides federal funding for transit agencies to buy and rehabilitate buses and vans and build and modernize bus facilities. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law provides nearly $2 billion through FY 2026 for the program.
