ICYMI: Budzinski Delivers $250,000 For Prairie and Weaver Park Renovations
URBANA, IL — Last week, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) announced $250,000 in new federal funding for the Urbana Park District’s Prairie and Weaver Park rehabilitation project. The Urbana Park District will use the funding to improve restrooms and day-use facilities, utilities, grading, drainage, landscaping, parking, lighting, and bicycle and walking paths at the park.
“After two years of fighting to get this funding through Congress, I am proud to bring home $250,000 to support the Urbana Park District’s Prairie and Weaver Park rehabilitation plan,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “These resources will make it easier for folks throughout the community to access athletic facilities, engage in recreation programs, and enjoy this beautiful place we call home. I am grateful for our local partners who never gave up on getting this funding, especially Urbana Park District Executive Director Rachel Lenz, and I couldn’t be more excited to see this project come to fruition.”

Budzinski secured the funding through the Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project Funding process. In total, $34 million in funding for local projects has been signed into law this year. In addition to the money for the Urbana Park District, Budzinski is delivering $850,000 for the Champaign Park District to renovate Parkland Way and $1.2 million for the University of Illinois’ Integrated Bioprocessing Research Laboratory.
