CHAMPAIGN: Budzinski Unveils Clean Energy Improvements at Round Barn Manor, Highlights $750,000 Federal Grant
CHAMPAIGN, IL — Yesterday, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) unveiled energy efficiency improvements and a new solar panel installation at Round Barn Manor, an affordable senior housing development in Champaign, IL.
The upgrades were made possible through a $750,000 federal grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Green and Resilient Retrofit Program, created by the Inflation Reduction Act. The Green and Resilience Retrofit Program provides HUD-assisted housing developments with resources to carbon emissions, make utility efficiency improvements, incorporate renewable energy sources and make properties more resilient against the effects of climate hazards. So far, the program has delivered $279 million nationwide.
“Round Barn Manor does incredible work for seniors here in Champaign, providing residents not only with a safe and affordable place to live, but also with a strong community and a fulfilling lifestyle,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “I’m thrilled to unveil energy efficiency improvements and a new solar panel installation that will help Round Barn Manor save on its monthly costs and reduce carbon emissions. These upgrades are yet another example of how the Inflation Reduction Act is delivering historic investments across Central and Southern Illinois. I’ll continue to work to support our seniors and bring home the federal dollars our communities need.”
