Budzinski Votes For Bipartisan Resolution to Keep the Government Open
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) joined 209 Democrats and 126 Republicans to pass a bipartisan Continuing Resolution to keep the federal government open for the next 45 days. She released the following statement on today’s vote:
“For the last two weeks, I’ve been calling on Speaker McCarthy to pass a bipartisan agreement to keep our government open and operational. Today, in the eleventh hour, he finally listened to me and hundreds of my colleagues — allowing us to vote on a 45-day funding extension,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “I was glad to vote with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to avert a government shutdown and ensure that our military members and federal employees can continue to be paid for the service they provide to my constituents and the American people. But this is not a long-term solution to our budget debate. Congress still needs to advance government funding bills that can pass in both the Republican-controlled House and the Democrat-controlled Senate before November 14th. I’ll keep pushing to get a bipartisan compromise over the finish line.”
