Budzinski Sworn In During Local Ceremony
WASHINGTON — This weekend, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski held a district swearing-in ceremony at the UA Local 137 Plumbers and Steamfitters in Springfield. The Oath of Office was administered by Illinois Supreme Court Justice Mary Kay O’Brien. Photos from the event can be found here.
“I ran for Congress because too many Americans work hard every single day and still find themselves struggling to make ends meet. I ran because working men and women deserve a fighter that will wake up every day and prioritize them in Congress. I ran to be a voice for Central & Southern Illinois in Washington. And I’m so honored to stand before you today as the Representative for Illinois’ 13th Congressional District,” said Congresswoman Budzinski.
“I have a lot of work ahead of me. But what I can promise to you today is that I will never lose sight of the people I serve. I will be a part of the solution – not the problem. I will never back down from standing in your corner. And I will work each and every day to deliver results.”
Congresswoman Budzinski was honored to be joined by local leaders from across Illinois 13th Congressional District, including State Sen. Doris Turner, State Rep. and Assistant Majority Leader Jay Hoffman, Urbana City Council Member Chaundra Bishop, Illinois AFL-CIO President Tim Drea, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois CEO and Executive Director Tiffany Mathis, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Pastor Dr. William Rosser, Love Fellowship Christian Church Rev. Courtney Carson and Union Baptist Church Rev. T. Ray McJonkins.
