Budzinski Recovers $659k for Urbana’s Salt & Light Ministries
SPRINGFIELD, IL — This week, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) visited Salt & Light Ministries to celebrate the recovery of $659,589 in Employee Retention Credit (ERC) claims. Since its founding, Salt & Light has become the largest emergency food program in Champaign County, providing crucial support to families in need.
The ERC process had been delayed significantly due to the high volume of applications, both legitimate and fraudulent. However, thanks to the efforts of the Congresswoman’s office, in collaboration with the Tax Advocate Service, Salt & Light’s ERC claims were successfully tracked, and the vital funds were recovered, ensuring the organization can continue its important work in the community.
“I was proud to visit Salt & Light Ministries in Urbana, where my team helped recover more than $650,000 owed to them by the IRS. This money will go directly back into our community, supporting Salt & Light’s mission to help families in need while also providing valuable resources like financial education, computer skills training, and volunteer opportunities,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “This is one of many examples of how my casework team is dedicated to advocating for the people of Central and Southern Illinois.”
“We cannot thank Congresswoman Budzinski and her office enough for their help with our ERC application. It had been over a year since we submitted our application to the IRS, and really didn’t expect much when we reached out to the Congresswoman’s office. What we found, however, was incredible responsiveness and attention to our case,” said Nathan Montgomery, Executive Director of Salt & Light.” Blake from her office helped us throughout, and the funds we are receiving are going to make a huge difference in our nonprofit’s ability to serve our community. We could not be more appreciative.”
