WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) was elected to serve as the New Democrat Coalition’s Vice Chair for Policy for the 119th Congress. The New Democrat Coalition is made up of more than 100 pragmatic House Democrats who work across the aisle and across the Capitol to advance innovative, inclusive and forward-looking policies. Representing almost half the Democratic Caucus, New Dems are united behind a mission to build an economy that works for every American. Budzinski served as the Coalition’s Freshman Leadership Representative for the 118th Congress.

“Throughout my career, I’ve worked to bring people to the table to find common ground. That’s why the New Democrat Coalition – the ‘Can Do Caucus’ – quickly became a home for me, both because of my incredible colleagues but also because of our practical, often bipartisan, approach to tackling our country’s toughest challenges,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “I’m honored that my fellow New Dems have elected me to serve as Vice Chair for Policy in the 119th Congress where I will use my experience to continue to grow our coalition’s ability to produce results. From lowering costs for families to creating good-paying jobs and protecting reproductive freedom, I look forward to working closely with Chair Schneider and other Vice Chairs to defend our freedoms and deliver for the communities we serve.”

New Dems work to bridge the partisan divide with a solutions-oriented approach to politics. The Coalition’s primary goal is to find workable solutions to the most pressing issues facing our nation—from ensuring every American has access to quality health care to increasing affordable housing in every community. New Dems have shown time and again how lawmakers can make real progress in Congress, which is why New Dems are the “Can Do Caucus.”

New Dem Leadership for the 119th Congress:

  • Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10) – Chair
  • Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) – Vice Chair for Policy
  • Congressman Salud Carbajal (CA-24) – Vice Chair for Outreach
  • Congressman Josh Harder (CA-09) – Vice Chair for Member Services
  • Congressman Marc Veasey (TX-33) – Vice Chair for Communications
  • Congresswoman-Elect Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) – Freshman Leadership Representative
