Budzinski Delivers $500,000 for Village of Pawnee Water Main Replacement Project
PAWNEE, IL — Today, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) presented Pawnee Mayor Jeff Clarke with a check for $500,000 in federal funding for the Village of Pawnee’s water main replacement project. Budzinski secured the funding in a recent bipartisan government funding bill after submitting a request for the resources during the House of Representatives’ Community Project Funding process.
“Every community deserves to have reliable access to clean drinking water. Today, we’re helping to make that a reality for the people of Pawnee,” said Congresswoman Budzinski. “I’m proud to be delivering $500,000 in federal support for critical water infrastructure upgrades in the Village of Pawnee. I look forward to continuing my work with communities like Pawnee across Central and Southern Illinois to bring home resources that make a difference for the places we call home.”
“Our village has struggled with breakages in our water mains and boil orders for years,” said Village of Pawnee Mayor Jeff Clarke. “This project will help us finish replacing our water mains, guaranteeing that our village’s families are provided with safe and clean water for years to come. We’re grateful to Congresswoman Budzinski for requesting these funds and delivering them to our community.”
In total, Congresswoman Budzinski has secured $136.1 million for community projects throughout Illinois’ 13th Congressional District. The funding for Pawnee has helped the village replace approximately 7,550 feet of water main that services 121 residential properties, a church and the Village’s school.
