Budzinski Announces $2.5 Million for St. Louis Downtown Airport
CAHOKIA, IL — Today, Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski (IL-13) announced that the St. Louis Downtown Airport in Cahokia, Illinois will be receiving $2.5 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The funding was announced through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Airport Terminal Program.
“As one of the most active airports in our region, the St. Louis Downtown Airport supports hundreds of local jobs and plays an important role in local aviation,” said Congresswoman Budzinski.“I’m thrilled to see $2.5 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law headed to support an institution with a rich history in our community, and I look forward to partnering with the St. Louis Downtown Airport as they continue to grow in the Metro East.”
This award will help fund work reconstructing the existing terminal building, which was built in 1980 and has met its useful life. The new modern terminal will meet current building codes including ADA compliance and improved energy efficiency, better supporting the current and future needs of the airport.
The Airport Terminal Program is one of three aviation programs created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The law provides $1 billion annually over five years for Airport Terminal Program grants. In total, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law provided a historic $25 billion to modernize our country’s airport infrastructure.
