Internships

Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski’s (IL-13) Washington, D.C. office is seeking paid Legislative interns for the Spring 2025 session. Internships typically run for about 16 weeks. Interns would be expected to start in mid-January to early May. These internships provide students with an understanding of the functions of a Congressional office and the legislative process.

Washington, D.C. Interns will be tasked with answering phones, sorting mail, researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attending hearings and briefings, giving tours of the Capitol, compiling daily press clips, and drafting constituent letters on various issues.

Internship hours are flexible to accommodate students’ schedules but generally run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST when Congress is in session and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when Congress is out of session. Applicants with Illinois ties are highly encouraged to apply. Internships are eligible for a paid monthly. This internship is open to undergraduate students and recent college graduates. District Office Interns will be tasked with answering phones, drafting memos, attending community outreach events, working with constituents, and assisting district staff with daily tasks. District internships typically run for about 12 weeks. Interns would be expected to start in mid-January to early April.

Internship hours are flexible to accommodate students’ schedules. Internships are available in our Springfield, Champaign, and Belleville offices. Interns are eligible to be paid monthly.
