Internships in Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski’s (IL-13) office provide students with an understanding of the functions of a Congressional office, including the legislative process, communications, and constituent services. Internships typically run for about three months. Interns would be expected to have a start date in early September and end their internship in December.
Washington, D.C. Interns will be tasked with answering phones, sorting mail, researching legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attending hearings and briefings, giving tours of the Capitol, compiling daily press clips, and drafting constituent letters on various issues.
Internship hours are flexible to accommodate students’ schedules but generally run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST when Congress is in session and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when Congress is out of session. Applicants with Illinois ties are highly encouraged to apply. Interns are eligible to receive a paid monthly stipend. This internship is open to undergraduate students and recent college graduates.
